Robert W. Carlock

A Memorial Service for Robert W. Carlock, 82, of Newark, formerly of DuQuoin, will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Granville, 110 West Broadway, Granville, Ohio, with Rev. Thom Lamb officiating.  Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Carlock was born in DuQuoin on June 1, 1925 to the late William A. and Lula L. (Lofton) Carlock.  He passed away at his residence on May 6, 2008.

Prior to retirement, he was a district manager for Gould Inc. in Chicago for 26 years.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Granville.  Mr. Carlock and his wife, Marceline, lived in Florida for 25 years, where he enjoyed sailing.  He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader, but most important in his life was his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Marceline F. (Casleton) Carlock, whom he married on September 14, 1946; two daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia and Austin McElroy of Granville, and Patti L. Wolf of New Orleans, La.; five grandchildren, Kathryn (Jason) Howe, Susanna Snyder, Brandon Daruna, Caroline Daruna and Andrew McElroy; two great grandchildren, Auggie Howe and Olivia Howe; niece, Billie Jo Shepherd; nephew, John Carlock and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Wright, Agnes Fox and Maxine Carter; and one brother, William Carlock.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to Dawes Arboretum.  Envelopes will be available at the church.
